Making the transition (from school to university)
Learning at the university are too different when we are learning at secondary school.
In university :
- spend less time in class
- study outside of class
- need read a lot of books
- have fewer test (quiz, assignment)
- might not reminded of due dates and exams
- no extensions of due dates
- you are responsible for your own learning or behaviours
- instructors don't tell you exactly what notes to take
Characteristics of Successful Students
- Responsible
As a student we have to be responsible to attend the classes everyday and complete the all assignments on the time.
- Communication skills
When we are in university, we have a lot of presentation. So we must have a good communication skills to speak clearly and bravely in front of the class.
- Good time management
As a successful student, we should manage the time in academic, co-curriculum and personal life.
- Discipline
Discipline is important for students to be consistence in our study and help us to achieve our goal.
Learning Styles to Enhance Performance
- Visual : need to see information
- Auditory : need to hear information
- Kinesthetic : need to be physically active and doing things
